The fifth season of the Pro Kabaddi League begin in Hyderabad with Telugu Titans VS Tamil Thalaivas.

The 12 teams have been divided into two zones A and B of six teams each, where each will be playing 15 intra-zone and 7 inter-zone matches, prior to the play offs. The 13-week long season will have top three teams from each zone qualifying for the play offs.

There will be three qualifiers and two eliminators before the final.

Adding a bit more colour to the grand kick-off of the fifth season of the Pro Kabaddi league, Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar sung the National Anthem at the opening ceremony at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad.

In the opening match of the Tournament Telugu Titans have beaten Tamil Thalaivas 32-27.

Rahul Chaudhari led the charge for Telugu Titans in a brand new season of VIVO Pro Kabaddi as they defeated debutants Tamil Thalaivas 32-27 in front of their adoring fans at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad on an action-filled Friday evening. While the Thalaivas showed a spark of brilliance by K Prapanjan and Ajay Thakur, it wasn’t enough for the visitors who went down fighting.

2nd match was between U Mumba vs Puneri Paltan

Puneri Paltan on Friday defeated U Mumba by 33-21 in Hyderabad in the second match of Pro Kabaddi League 2017.

Pune skipper Deepak Niwas Hooda received the ‘Perfect Raider’ award for earning points in the match. Puneri Paltan’s player, Sandeep Narwal, got the ‘Player of the Match’ award for showing great defensive skills on the mat.
